About this event
With dramatic developments unfolding in equity markets, investors are closely scrutinizing the performance of active managers, factors and sectors. Although short-term turmoil is front-of-mind, eyes are already turning toward larger strategic questions.
In the latest Market Review- Market Upheaval Drivers Shift in Fund Manager ‘Winners’ and ‘Losers’, we bring you fresh analysis of US active manager performance to see how the characteristics of ‘winners and losers’ shifted within the first few weeks of the market downturn. This highlights:
- A sharp decline in relative performance of the top quintile on a three-year basis (but not of the bottom quintile);
- A notable shift in the composition of the top quintile manager group, with more diversified strategies (higher Effective Number of Stocks, higher Effective Number of Industries/Sectors) either staying in or entering the list while more concentrated ones exited;
- A shift in the extent to which top quintile performance can be attributed to growth-related risk factors exposures and more.
The picture, of course, continues to evolve through April and conclusions remain under ongoing review.
We invite you to join a brief (15 minute) Webinar for a digest of initial findings and discussion of the key issues.
